CHEYENNE, WY — Today, Become A Peacemaker, a 501(c)3 organization, announced its Wyoming launch, inviting Christians to step out of the outrage cycle and return to the teachings of Jesus. Become a Peacemaker is a nonpartisan movement of American Christians who are stepping out of the chaos, boldly examining our own actions and getting back to truly following Jesus.
Become a Peacemaker is here to bring His peace back to the public square. The timing is urgent. Recent tragedies have exposed the continuing cycle of what hatred, tribalism, and fear produce. Become A Peacemaker is asking Christians to step up and lead with the spirit of Christ.
“Our politics has been poisoned. We have replaced grace with outrage, truth with slogans, and love with loyalty to a side,” said board Member Diemer True. Board Member and former Wyoming Supreme Court Justice Keith Kautz commented, “What we are trying to do is much more bold and even radical than a lesson in civility. Christ didn’t say ‘be civil to those that disagree with you,’ he said ‘love your enemies.’ That love, His love, is at the heart of Become a Peacemaker. Wyoming can show the country what it looks like when Christians take Him at His word.”
The Become a Peacemaker’s mission comes straight from scripture: love your enemies, do good to those who oppose you, and speak with conviction without cruelty. The organization launched with a video outlining its message that will be promoted statewide.
“We are not culture warriors. We are Kingdom people,” said board member Ron Rabou. “Wyoming is the right place to begin. Our churches, our communities, and our neighbors know what it means to stand up and stand together. Now we choose to stand for peace.”
The organization will spread the message by engaging with social media platforms, equipping grassroots volunteers, encouraging elected officials to lead with humility, and asking party structures to reflect the grace and truth of Christ. The work includes:
- A statewide professional messaging campaign
- Engaging Faith leaders and church communities with town hall discussions and seminars
- Offering candidate and campaign staff briefings on peacemaking, persuasion, and civil engagement.
- Encouraging Christians to step up and step in.
